The scope of the contract was the detailed design for the construction of the irrigation dam \u201cVrachos\u201d in Kastoria Perfecture, northwest Greece. Vrachos dam was designed as an earthfill dam with a clay core and its basic technical characteristics are: – River Basin upstream of the dam: 9.20 km\u00b2. – Elevation at the dam’s axis: +920 m in the river valley, +959 m at dam’s crest, +955 at dam’s a.s.l. – Total capacity of the dam: 1,948,500 m\u00b3, usefull capacity of the dam: 1,733,000 m\u00b3. – Dam’s height (at the axis): 48 m. – Dam’s crest width 7.0 m, crest length 250.0 m. – Irrigation area (downstream): 465 ha. Construction of dam was delayed due to expropriation issues and was ended in 2007. Now it is in full operational mode.
\nThe scope of the contract was the detailed design for the construction of the irrigation dam \u201cVrachos\u201d in northwest Greece. It was designed as an earthfill dam with a clay core. The river basin upstream of the dam is 9.20 km\u00b2. The total and useful capacity of the dam is 1,948,500 m\u00b3 and 1,733,000 m\u00b3 respectively.
