Z&A participated in the 1th ICOLD European Club Symposium organized by the Greek Committee on Large Dams (GCOLD) which was held from the 2nd to 4th of October 2019 on the island of Crete, Greece.
The Symposium covered a wide range of topics including Advances in Dam Engineering, Dam Safety and Risk Management, Social impact and awareness, Successes and problems in implementing the European Water Framework Directive and relevant Guidelines and Dam and Reservoir Management in the changing European Environment. Z&A’s Managing Director, Mr. Panagiotis Antonaropoulos and Prof Michael J. Kavvadas, Z&As Geotechnical expert, presented the design and construction of the Mwomboshi dam in Zambia, a 26m high and 1,800m long dam for the irrigation of about 5000 hectares of agricultural area. The presentation specifically highlighted issues of special interest, as well as design and construction challenges faced during the mplementation of all project phases.
