The water losses in Dire Dawa water supply network are estimated at 1,265,720 m³/annum which corresponds to 28% of the volume of water produced. The aim of the Non-Revenue Water Reduction Study will be to reduce the percentage of water losses from 28% to 18% within a five year period. The objectives include the development of an updated map of the Dire Dawa water supply network, the development in GIS software of all necessary databases required, the development of a skeletal network hydraulic model, the specification and procurement of all necessary leak detection equipment for use in effective network monitoring, improved water metering and efficient leak locating and localising, the capacity building of the DDWSSA and the training of DDWSSA staff in all aspects of NRW management and the implementation of a new organisational structure at DDWSSA through which the the proposed strategies and actions will become practicable, achievable and sustainable.

The Addis Ababa city is at present supplied with water from three surface water resources, the Legedadi, Dire and Geffersa reservoirs, and ground water sources . The Legedadi dam (1970, height: 44 m) and the Dire dam (1999, height: 41m), have a capacity of 44MCM and 19MCM respectively. Athi Water Services Board intends to utilize the existing hydropower potential in its existing water facilities and generate electricity either for integration into the grid or direct usage in order to meet the increasing demand for power in Kenya.This project will exploit the residual head at the Chania outfall estimated to be about 50 meters and with an average flow of about 2.5 m³/sec in a run-of-river power generation scheme.Chania outfall is the point at which water from Thika dam together with that abstracted from Kiama and Kimakia Rivers is transmitted to Mwagu intake through a series of tunnels. Mwagu Intake the water is again transmistted through a tunnel and a pipeline to Ng'ethu water production plant for treatment and later transmission to Nairobi City for consumption.
The scope of works will be in two phases as follows:a) Phase 1: Feasibility study for Hydropower Plants at Chania Outfall (3MW) and Thika Dam (1.2MW), and Preparation of Design and Bidding Document for Chania plant, b) Phase 2: Supervision and Coordination of Hydroelectric Power Generation Station at Chania Outfall.

This assignment relates to the Kaunda Square Sewershed expansion component, and specifically to the sewer expansion in Mtendere. The component involved the construction of a new sewer reticulation system in Mtendere to which households will be expected to connect. Over 9,000 households were expected to benefit from this intervention. This specific assignment addressed the requirement to “give effect” to the Sanitation Connection Action Plan (SCAP) via the development of a detailed framework and work plan to operationalise it. The project objectives that needed to be implemented involved the provision of cost estimates for the household connections to the sanitation network infrastructure assets and the design and cost estimation for suitable household infrastructure, i.e. water closets (WC). The level of implementation is expected to be over 80% in order for the Sanitation Network to function efficiently. The project's outcome will have significant impact on future endeavors in similar areas in Zambia, as it identifies the problems and risks within the parameters given. The total gravity flowing sewerage network that was examined has a length of approximately 82,000 m.

The main objective of the project is the need to implement a major water project that will serve Narok Town and its environs beyond year 2020. Upper Narok Dam will be a multipurpose dam project for domestic, livestock, irrigation, flood control, other multiple water uses and planned to supply water by gravity the city of Narok, without pumping as far as possible. Upper Narok Dam will be a15,000,000 m³ reservoir capacity rock fill dam with clay core of 40.00 height. The selected site is located 300 m downstream of the confluence of the Engare Narok and Olokurto Rivers. The site is located 28 km from Narok Town. The demand is expected to rise to 18,610 m³/day by year 2039 for an estimated population of approximately 163,000 people. 50% of the present water demand will be covered by an ongoing project implemented by JICA. The area to be irrigated is approximately 200ha. The dam and the irrigation networks, that cover an area of 200ha, are designed at a detailed design stage.

Chavrias River is one of the major rivers in the area of Chalkidiki, with a total inflow capacity up to 47.2 x 106 m³ per year. After construction, the dam will irrigate over 3,400 hectares and will supply with drinking water 42 cities and villages, with approximately 10.50 hm³/yr. The feasibility, the preliminary, the detailed design and the tender documents will be included. The water supply transmission and distribution networks are consisted of: (a) 125,970 m long HDPE pipework , (b)146,648 m long steel pipework, (c) six (6) water reservoirs of 8,250 m³ each, (d) eleven (11) pumping stations and (e) water treatment plant installations with capacity of 1.88 m³/sec (= 162,432.00 m³/d). The feasibility study of a 500 m hydraulic tunnel and the 400 m water transfer pipe from the dam and the water treatment plant was also included.

The Mara River's upper tributaries rise from a swamp in the Mau Escarpment of Kenya and discharges into the Musoma Bay in Lake Victoria. The River is about 400 km long, and drains a total basin area of approximately 13,325 km². The population residing in the basin is approximately 1.3 million people. The Mara River Basin is internationally recognized due to Maasai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. Jointly, these ecosystems were recently declared the seventh new Wonder of the World. The main objective of this Service is the feasibility study for two multipurpose dams that will include the review of all information available, the carry out of topographical, hydrological surveys and geotechnical investigations and the conduct of a preliminary environmental and social impact assessments. The main features of the Zoned earthfill Norera Dam are: Height 10 m, length 130.0 m and Capacity of 0.237 MCM, on the other hand, the main features of the Zoned earthfill Borenga Dam are: Height 22 m, length 575.0 m and Capacity 15.85 MCM.A HPP(3MW) is also designed at the Borenga site.
