The area to be irrigated is located northwest and west of the location of the Marmaras dam (48m Height, Reservoir Volume: 5.100.00 m³), has a total area of approximately 24,000 ha and includes parts of the farms of Akropotamos, Platanotopos, Podochori, Kokkinochorio, Galipsos, Orphani and Kariani. Out of the 24,000 ha, 12,000 ha concern ar-eas that are directly served by mainly private boreholes, which are deep and have salinity problems, and 12,000 ha concern areas that are occasionally served by the same boreholes and are located intermediate to the previous areas.
Five pumping stations were designed (800m3/hr – 3600m3/hr)
Twelve tanks (600m3 – 3700m3)
Last a preliminary study of a small HPP was delivered
