Z&A signed a new contract in Malawi under the name ”Consultancy Services for Updating of Feasibility Studies and Preparation of Detailed Designs for Water Supply Improvement in Mzuzu City and Parts of Mzimba District”
The objective of the consultancy services is to update the feasibility study and preliminary designs and to prepare detailed designs and tender documents for Lambilambi dam and associated water supply works for Mzuzu City and parts of Mzimba District.
More speccificcaly Z&A will
i. Review the water demand and confirm the water supply requirements / schedule (including urban water supply, irrigation, fisheries, in-stream flow requirements, and hydropower generation).
ii. Determine population served, per capita demand, and non-revenue water assumptions.
iii. Confirm the dam site and type selection summarizing the pros and cons of options previously studied.
iv. Coordinate with the Environmental and Social review consultancy
v. Undertake a risk analysis as per the ESF/ESS4 on Dam Safety with reference to the Good Practice Note (GPN) on Dam Safety including a preliminary downstream consequence assessment and downstream topographic survey and land use using satellite images, etc.
vi. Prepare four dam safety plans as per the ESF/ESS4 and GPN
vii. Prepare the cost estimates.
viii. Prepare the bidding documents and Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance Plan.
ix. Prepare the overall project implementation arrangement and risk management.
