The objective of the study was the detailed design for the construction of the water supply and irrigation dam “Manikia” in Evia Perfecture, central Greece. Manikia dam was designed as an earthfill dam with a clay core and its basic technical characteristics are: – River Basin upstream of the dam: 13.60 km². – Elevation at the dam’s axis: +729 m in the river valley, +774 m at dam’s crest, +770 at dam’s f.s.l. – Total capacity of the dam: 2,602,000 m³, usefull capacity of the dam: 2,399,500 m³. – Dam’s height (at the axis): 54 m. – Irrigation area (downstream): 800 ha, water supply demand 3.43 hm³/year for Kymi and Aliveri cities. Construction of dam was ended at 2003. Now it is in full operational mode.
