Panos Antonaropoulos, born in Athens, Greece, in 1957, is the President and Managing Director of Z&A – P. Antonaropoulos and Associates (Z&A) and the Executive Director of Z&A Consulting Engineers International Ltd. He resides in Athens with his wife, Nanda Vlachou-Antonaropoulou. He graduated from the National Technical University of Athens in 1980 with a degree in Civil Engineering and served two years in the Greek Navy. Fluent in English, Mr. Antonaropoulos brings decades of expertise to his role.

Mr. Antonaropoulos began his career in 1983, working in consulting engineering with Hydromet Ltd, under the guidance of Constantinos Zeris. His early experience in hydraulic, structural, and environmental projects led to the founding of K. Zeris – P. Antonaropoulos and Associates Ltd (now Z&A Ltd) in 1990. Since then, Z&A has been instrumental in several major hydraulic projects for Greece’s Ministry of Public Works, including some of the country’s largest infrastructure undertakings.

Over the past decade, Mr. Antonaropoulos has expanded Z&A’s influence into Sub-Saharan Africa, where he has successfully directed numerous projects across Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, and South Sudan. In recent years alone, he has overseen seven high-impact projects across these regions, with funding from international organizations such as the World Bank, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the European Commission, the French Development Agency, and the African Development Bank.

With over 25 years of experience as a project leader, coordinator, and manager, Mr. Antonaropoulos has led projects spanning the entire hydraulic engineering spectrum, including water supply and distribution, wastewater treatment, flood protection, irrigation, dam construction, water resource management, small hydroelectric projects, and environmental impact assessments. His hands-on approach extends to the coordination and supervision of large-scale construction sites, where he applies new technologies to optimize hydraulic designs, such as methodologies for leakage detection in water supply networks and improvements in stormwater and sewerage systems.

In addition to his project work, Mr. Antonaropoulos is deeply involved in the business affairs of the consulting engineering sector in Greece and Europe. A former board member of HELLASCO, the Hellenic Association of Consulting Firms (1998–2007), he served as its President for two terms in 2004 and 2006. He has also represented the association in the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA) and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). Recently, he has contributed his expertise to government committees with the Greek Ministry of Public Works, focusing on advancing legislation for consulting firms in Greece.
