Consultancy services for land drainage and water shed management study

This contract focuses on seven distinct areas of Mauritius, which have been identified as priority areas by the National Development Unit (NDU), namely: Grand Baie, Pamplemousses, Central Flacq, Cottage, Clemencia, Sebastopol, Gros Billot. The general objective is to evaluate the existing conditions, both within the flooding areas and the wider catchments, and identify the most effective solutions to alleviate these problems in the foreseeable future.The size of the catchments under study varies between 0.3 and 26.5km². The total area of the catchments that have been analysed in all seven sites is approximately 110km².Drainage networks have been proposed in nine cases, aiming mainly to solve problems of low lying areas within the settlements. A total of 28 existing bridges and culverts have been also assessed, in terms of their hydraulic capacity, and the construction of new structures has been proposed in ten cases.
