Consultants services for undertaking feasibility study for small multipurpose reserviors at norera and borenga in the mara river basin (kenya and tanzania)

The Mara River’s upper tributaries rise from a swamp in the Mau Escarpment of Kenya and discharges into the Musoma Bay in Lake Victoria. The River is about 400 km long, and drains a total basin area of approximately 13,325 km². The population residing in the basin is approximately 1.3 million people. The Mara River Basin is internationally recognized due to Maasai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. Jointly, these ecosystems were recently declared the seventh new Wonder of the World. The main objective of this Service is the feasibility study for two multipurpose dams that will include the review of all information available, the carry out of topographical, hydrological surveys and geotechnical investigations and the conduct of a preliminary environmental and social impact assessments. The main features of the Zoned earthfill Norera Dam are: Height 10 m, length 130.0 m and Capacity of 0.237 MCM, on the other hand, the main features of the Zoned earthfill Borenga Dam are: Height 22 m, length 575.0 m and Capacity 15.85 MCM.A HPP(3MW) is also designed at the Borenga site.
