The objective of the study was the preliminary design of the irrigation dam “Dendra” in Larisa Perfecture, central Greece. Dendra dam was designed as an earthfill 26m high dam with a clay core with a total capacity of 860,000 m³ and usefull capacity of 815,000 m³. The irrigation area downstream was 75 ha. The service covered the fields of: – Hydrological Assessment Study for the river catchment basin. – Feasibility Study Analysis (dam type, location, purpose, storage capacity, geological survey, apparent structures, etc). – Preliminary hydrological, hydrogeological, geological and geotechnical investigations and analysis. – Preliminary dam design, dam safety analysis, monitoring plan, tender documents, bill of quantities, cost estimates. – Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Study. – Socio-Economic Study, including investment plan, financing options, funding proposals, etc.
